‘Humble’ Bismarck stands down as captain

Marco Wentzel will continue as Cell C Sharks captain after it was confirmed from New Zealand that Bismarck du Plessis has opted to stand down the leadership in order to concentrate on his own game.


Sharks director of rugby Gary Gold said from the south island, where the Sharks open their tour on Friday against the Highlanders in Dunedin, that Du Plessis, appointed as the regular captain at the start of the season, had shown great humility and attitude since returning to the team on completion of his four-game suspension following his red card against the Chiefs.
