Griquas take a 21-8 lead over the Sharks into halftime. Griquas got off to the perfect start with a try just two minutes in. The Sharks responded immediately with a penalty to trail 7-3. Griquas were then reduced to 13 players after picking up two yellow cards midway through the half. The Sharks piled on the pressure, but were kept out by some superb Griquas defence. The Sharks eventually went over for a try around the half hour mark to edge ahead 8-7. The Sharks then picked up a yellow card after 34 minutes and Griquas capitalized fully, with two tries in the final three minutes seeing them take a handy advantage into the break.
