The Hurricanes take a 21-17 lead over the Crusaders into halftime after a thoroughly entertaining first half. The sides traded early penalties and a try apiece saw the sides level 10-10 around the midpoint of the half. The Hurricanes edged ahead with a penalty, but the Crusaders responded almost immediately with a try to lead 17-13. However, the Hurricanes would finish the half strongly, with their second try putting them in front before a penalty with the final play made it a four point advantage at the break.
