Hooper in line to make 7's debut

Michael Hooper's long awaited sevens debut has been confirmed with the former Wallabies captain to play for Australia at the famous Hong Kong tournament next month.

The four time John Eales Medallist - with 125 Test caps to his name - has been thrown in the deep end with his first game against Olympic champions Fiji on April 5.

Hooper joined the sevens squad in November after missing Rugby World Cup selection but his debut has been delayed by multiple injury setbacks.

The former flanker isn't expecting miracles from day one as he tries to push his case for selection at the Paris Olympics.

"Look, I'm not the fastest, I'm not the fittest, so that doesn't start well, does it? But I'll give it a try, an absolute shake," he modestly said on Thursday.

"My skillset around the breakdown is going to be really important. Supporting some of our fast men and then securing our breakdown and trying to maybe put on some footwork when I can. We'll see how we go.
